steaming
This is normally incorporated into another treatment such as a facial. It is used to warm the skin gently in preparation for products or to help remove products, i.e., a facemask. The skin receives a fine mist of warm steam, which wets the surface of the skin. It is a very comfortable and relaxing part of the treatment.
Is this a similar effect as sitting in a steam room?
No, a steam room holds a much higher temperature. A facial steamer operates at a much lower temperature, as the skin of the face is far more delicate than that of our bodies.
As I suffer from Asthma I worry about the use of a steamer, this is putting me off a facial, what do I do?
These steamers are very gentle and produce a very fine mist of cool steam. When you attend the salon for a facial, the therapist will automatically carry out a detailed skin analysis and medical check on every new client. Highlighting conditions such as Asthma enables her to make the treatment as comfortable as possible thus eliminating anything if necessary. There are many facials that do not incorporate steaming and are just as effective.
