Treatments for Men
Men are increasingly conscious of their looks. They work out, wear aftershave and have trendy hairstyles. Young men sometimes worry about spots and use lotions to try to keep them at bay – and many men secretly use their partner’s face and hand creams! The male market for skin care is the fastest growing in Europe, increasing by 35% according to a European Cosmetics Market report.
BABTAC Members are attuned to the needs of the male Client, so for the man ‘Are you BABTAC?’ is a great first question to ask. If the answer is ‘Yes’, you know you’ll be very warmly welcomed!
There are forward thinking Salons dedicated entirely to male treatments and others with areas specifically designed for men. Health Spas and Fitness Clubs often have Therapists who treat men, and a mobile Therapist who is treating the man’s partner would be well placed to advise.
Many men would benefit from a trip to their local Therapist; ‘Body Treatment’ is how we refer to the kind of treatments suitable for the male sector. Obviously a Manicure can make a man feel more confident in his appearance – particularly when going to an interview, transforming those chipped and uneven nails into something that a prospective employer would be happy to shake in greeting.
How many men, having shaved, feel that their face must have had a good going over with sand paper at the same time? A Therapist can help with this, suggesting skin care products that will sooth, and will help give a closer shave. They can even suggest treatment for the wrinkles, bags and lines that almost inevitably emerge with age! And with age, other treatments might be suitable; perhaps slimming and body toning treatments to help retain that slim masculine physique.
As some men begin to lose the hair on their head it also starts to appear on other parts of the body – not everyone wants this and a Therapist can help in removal.
Many Therapists are trained in massage, which is great for stress management, helping you feel more relaxed, soothing the aches and pains around the body. Sports massage is another treatment offered by some Therapists and several are now employed alongside the Physio by one or two rugby and football clubs.
If you know a man who is thinking about going to a Therapist, why not encourage him, book a treatment for yourself and make one for him as well!
