BABTAC awarded for Industry Standard Campaigning

BABTAC Awarded for Commitment to Improving Industry Standards

At a glitzy London awards ceremony full of many of the world’s leaders in the medical and aesthetic beauty sector, the not-for-profit British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) was recognised among its peers as a pioneer of improving industry standards.

The “Training, Education and Professional Development Award for Professional Beauty” recognises the business that demonstrates commitment, excellence, passion and dedication to advancing the industry, and BABTAC was the 2018 winner.

Speaking of the awards, BABTAC Chair, Lesley Blair comments:

“we were so delighted to be nominated for this award, and then to be shortlisted and ultimately win was an absolute honour.  BABTAC is a not-for-profit professional association, operating for our members and the good of the industry, and it is one of our core remits to uphold and improve standards across the sector. Having this recognised by an independent organisation committed to promoting Safety in Beauty is brilliant and a real boost to our cause. Here’s to continued progress as an industry!”

BABTAC’s win recognises and celebrates the plethora of campaigns that BABTAC has undertaken and continued to progress in the last five years. Campaigning for mandatory self-regulation, advising on and upholding improved industry standards, encouraging development of appropriate and forward-thinking qualifications as well as acting and advising on specific issues ranging from teeth whitening to human trafficking and non-surgical cosmetic interventions, all contributed to the win.
All projects are delivered with an aim to drive up standards and to protect both therapists and the consumer. Spanning the full career of therapists, BABTAC has influence at every stage and will now continue to help drive the industry forward, as informed by its members and the wider industry.

Antonia Mariconda, founder and driving force behind Safety in Beauty and avid campaigner for standards comments:

"I'm delighted with the high quality calibre of entries in 2018; infinite congratulations to all the highly commended finalists, and to the outstanding winners. We continue to pledge our support to the public in ensuring we create free awareness and education regarding safe ways to access aesthetic and beauty treatments and look forward to launching some new initiatives in the Autumn of 2018”.

BABTAC’s award was presented by industry legend Leighton Denny and icon Samantha Fox.

Launched in October 2013 by Antonia Mariconda, the Safety in Beauty Campaign is a response to the growing dissatisfaction and devistation caused by dubious treatments and was formed by a group of like minded professionals and experts.
