Advanced Aesthetician 2017

Advanced Aesthetician 2017

BABTAC's 2017 Advanced Aesthetician award went to Martine Jarman, Founder of SkinGenius in Cheshire.

Martine opened SkinGenius in 2014 after almost 20 years of experience within the beauty and aesthetics industry. Just two years later following her success in winning the BABTAC Specialist Therapist Award, she had relocated to a larger premisis with three treatment rooms.

The 2017 award has boosted her brand and profile further. "It not only looks and sounds good, but winning translates to real business benefits by attracting new clients, media attention and broader industry recognition and collaberation on projects." says Martine. "As well as running my skin clinic, I remain actively involved with my consultancy work and have been invited to speak at two leading industry conferences this year and become a brand ambassador for one of my faviorite skincare brands, pHformula Cosmeceuticals. The award has given me the credibility of being a leading aesthetic therapist within the industry and I was recently selected to become a panelist member of the joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP)  Fitness to Practise Committee." she added.

Martine says the award brings benefits on many levels. "I design most of my own treatment protocols so the award gives me confidence that my unique approach to delivering advanced procedures is recognised and endorsed by the judges. On a bigger scale, it is an opportunity to showcase the SkinGenius brand to the industry and drive visibility for free PR. On a personal level it is a positive confirmation that you are sucessful in a highly competitive industry. for example, it gave me confidence to enter this years My Face My Body  Aesthetic Awards and win a new category: UK Aesthetic Therpaist of the Year"

Martine goes on to say "On a business level, over the past 12 months, I have taken on 400 new clients, my clinic diary is fully booked eight weeks in advance and to keep up with growth I am now hiring a second Aesthetic Therapist."

Advice to others? "The key to a sucessful entry is not just a well-crafted pitch, its showcasing a multitude of evidence to back up your claims so I recommend making a head start and prepare your entry even before the entry dates are published."
