Camouflage make up

This type of make-up is concerned with concealing birthmarks, brown pigmentation marks, scarring or any skin disfigurement resulting from injury. The make-up used is specifically designed to block out unwanted colour thus allowing the Therapist to then introduce natural skin colours with further make-up. The face and body can be treated of women, men and children. Eventually most clients are taught how to apply the make-up by the Therapist allowing the application to be done at home.

The products used are hard wearing and designed to be waterproof.

The different colours are mixed and matched to the skin tone.

The client can purchase these cosmetics from some Therapists.

Alternatively, some large pharmacy stores will order them for you once you have been told the colours you require. Should the disorder be classed psychologically disturbing by a Doctor, it is possible to receive treatment from a Therapist working in a hospital and acquire the make-up creams on prescription. This is quite rare and will depend upon the extent of the disfigurement and where it is on the body.

How long will this make-up last if it is waterproof?

In theory this could last up to a week. However, if the application is on the face, it would be recommended for hygiene purposes that the make-up is removed daily. If applied to a leg or arm it could be left a few days.

I have a scar on my shoulder blade which I like covered for the times I wear an evening dress. How could I apply this at home?

As this is a difficult area for your reach you have a choice between relying on the Therapist to apply this and visit her every time, or, take a friend with you to the salon. They can be taught what to do and once the Therapist has selected the colours to mix, it can be applied at home for you.

Is this treatment very expensive?

This will vary depending on the time needed for your particular treatment and the how many treatments you require prior to applying the make-up yourself. It is important to receive a consultation and ask all these questions prior to the first treatment.
